Vessel-Specific Termite Fumigation for Boats and Yachts

Drywood and Formosan termites are both major problems for boats and yachts. Either can damage cabinetry, trim and other wooden parts, including areas hidden from view. On Demand Pest Control offers vessel-specific fumigation for either species when inspection confirms that the vessel and treatment site are suitable.

Termite evidence in your boat’s cabinetry, trim or interior wood deserves a vessel-specific inspection. On Demand Pest Control assesses boats and yachts for marine fumigation, with a plan built around the vessel’s size, layout, access and storage site. Your free suitability inspection is the first step toward deciding whether fumigation is appropriate.

The inspector reviews the accessible wood and termite evidence, identifies the species where it can be determined and discusses your vessel’s location. If fumigation is suitable, a licensed fumigator develops the treatment plan for that vessel and site. Your written quote identifies the work and the preparation and access arrangements that apply to the job.

A vessel requires its own scope. Our termite fumigation service explains the whole-structure approach used for homes, while your marine assessment addresses the actual boat and storage location. Comparing the two helps distinguish vessel work from residential tenting; the quote and any written coverage are specific to your vessel.

Call our Davie branch at (954) 947-0805 or Naples at (941) 444-0062 to request your free vessel suitability inspection. Have the vessel’s location and any photos of the termite evidence ready so we can discuss the next step.

Boats, Yachts, and Termite Problems We Assess

We assess boats and yachts for drywood termite fumigation or Formosan termite fumigation. Both species can cause serious damage to a vessel’s wooden parts. Our inspector identifies the termite evidence before a treatment plan is made.

Formosan treatment uses four times (4×) the standard drywood fumigation dosage of sulfuryl fluoride. The higher gas requirement makes species identification important to the treatment plan and vessel-specific quote. The licensed fumigator determines the exact application for the vessel, site and conditions according to the product label.

  • Boats and yachts with wood parts: interior trim, cabinetry, paneling, furniture and other wood where termites can feed out of sight.
  • Termite activity confirmed during inspection: our inspector identifies the species where possible, because the type of termite affects which plan is suitable.
  • Vessels stored at a site that can support fumigation: the vessel’s placement, access and storage location must allow a licensed fumigator to treat it safely.
  • Owners who need an answer for their own vessel: the plan and quote are made for your vessel, not copied from a home job.

This service treats termites on the vessel. It does not cover cargo, imported goods or other pests in general. It also does not include transit, customs or cargo certificates.

Signs of Termites on a Boat or Yacht

Termites in a boat often go unnoticed until the wood shows damage. Watch for the clues below, but no single sign proves an infestation. Our inspector needs to check the evidence in person.

  • Small pellets or powdery debris: piling up below trim, inside cabinets or along wood edges. Pellets point to termites but don’t confirm them on their own.
  • Damaged or soft trim: wood that feels hollow, crumbles or gives way when you press it.
  • Discarded wings: near portholes, hatches or light sources inside the cabin.
  • Tiny holes in wood surfaces: pinpoint openings in paneling or joinery.
  • Blistered or bubbling finish: varnish or paint lifting over wood that may be damaged underneath.
  • Winged insects inside the vessel: swarmers gathering in enclosed spaces.

Moisture damage, other wood-boring insects and normal wear can look similar. Our inspector identifies the problem before anyone talks about treatment. If you’ve noticed any of these signs, call us to schedule a free suitability inspection.

How Boat and Yacht Fumigation Works, Step by Step

Every vessel and storage site is different. We confirm that both are suitable and coordinate with the site before any treatment.

  1. Free suitability inspection.

Our inspector examines the vessel and reviews the evidence for drywood or Formosan termites. Identifying the species determines which fumigation plan and gas requirement apply.

  2. Site and vessel review.

We check where the vessel is stored, how it can be reached and whether the location can support fumigation. The licensed fumigator confirms suitability, vessel placement and access for the actual treatment site.

  3. Written scope and individual quote.

If the vessel is a good fit, you get a written scope and a quote for that vessel.

  4. Coordination with the yard or storage operator.

Before treatment is scheduled, the site or yard must authorize the work, and vessel placement and access must be arranged.

  5. Preparation and vacate instructions for your vessel.

A licensed fumigator gives you preparation and vacate instructions, including how enclosed spaces will be handled.

  6. Fumigation and safe clearance.

The licensed fumigator carries out the plan and confirms clearance. Re-entry is decided for each vessel, not set ahead of time.

Preparation, vacating and re-entry instructions come from the licensed fumigator for your vessel and treatment site. To start with step one, call the branch nearest your vessel and ask for a free suitability inspection.

What Marine Fumigation Costs for Your Vessel

Each vessel is quoted individually after the free suitability inspection.

Your final price depends on the vessel and on what it takes to treat it safely. The main factors are:

  • Termite species and gas requirement: Formosan fumigation uses four times (4×) the standard drywood gas dosage, which affects the individual quote.
  • Vessel dimensions: the size of the vessel and how its spaces are laid out.
  • Access and placement: how easily the vessel can be reached where it sits.
  • Storage site: what the yard or facility allows and can support.
  • Sealing enclosed spaces: how the enclosed spaces can be sealed for treatment.
  • Preparation: how much work the vessel needs before treatment.

Residential cubic-foot pricing does not apply to boats. The suitability inspection is free. If the vessel is a good candidate, you get a written quote for it before any work is scheduled. Want a number for your boat? Book your free inspection and we’ll put a vessel-specific quote in writing.

Why Boat Owners Choose On Demand Pest Control

Our vessel fumigation is planned specifically for boats and yachts. Every vessel receives an individual plan and written quote. Here’s what you can count on:

  • Founded in 2017: On Demand Pest Control has served Florida customers since 2017.
  • State-licensed business: we operate under Florida Pest Control License #JB259950.
  • Fully insured: we carry general liability and workers’ compensation coverage.
  • Our own vessel photos: our company photographs show a covered vessel inside a warehouse. They are not stock images.
  • Honest suitability calls: the free inspection comes first, and you get a quote only if fumigation fits your vessel and its site.

Many boat owners also deal with termites at home. Our Termite Fumigation and Tenting in Florida service is separate from boat fumigation and is built for houses, condos and other buildings on land. Its preparation, pricing and coverage are written for buildings, not boats. If your home has drywood termites too, ask our inspector to look at both properties. Each one gets its own plan and quote, and no terms carry over from one to the other.

Fumigation isn’t always the right answer for a house either. Our Termite Control services include options for homes where tenting the whole structure may be more than the problem needs. After looking at the termite activity and the structure, our inspector can explain which approach fits. Keeping the boat decision separate from the home decision means you pay only for what each property needs. Mention both when you call, and we’ll set up the inspections.

What Your Written Vessel Scope Covers

Before any work begins, you get a written scope for your vessel. It lists what the job includes and any coverage that applies. Anything not in the scope is not part of the service.

Coverage from a home fumigation or a residential drywood warranty does not carry over to a boat. Formosan vessel fumigation is a one-time treatment with no warranty or renewal. This service does not include repairs to existing wood damage or a promise that termites will never return.

Frequently asked questions

Is marine fumigation the same as tenting a house?

No. Marine fumigation is a separate service for boats and yachts. The vessel's size, enclosed spaces, storage location and site authorization all shape the plan. Home fumigation steps, pricing and warranty terms are not reused for vessels.

Can you fumigate my boat while it's in the water or at the dock?

This service does not include dockside, in-water or occupied-vessel treatment. The vessel must be at a location that a licensed fumigator confirms is safe for the work. Access and authorization are arranged before the job.

How do I know if my boat actually has termites?

Pellets, damaged trim and discarded wings are warning signs, but none of them proves termites on its own. Both drywood and Formosan termites are major concerns on boats. During the free suitability inspection, our inspector checks the evidence and identifies the species before recommending a treatment plan.

How long until I can use my boat again?

Re-entry is decided separately for each vessel. The licensed fumigator confirms clearance before you can use the vessel again, and the timing is not fixed ahead of time.

Will I receive a fumigation certificate for shipping or customs?

No. This service treats termites in the vessel and does not include transit, customs or cargo certificates. Your written scope lists exactly what the job includes.

How do I get started?

Call our East Coast branch at (954) 947-0805 or our West Coast branch at (941) 444-0062 and ask for a free suitability inspection for your vessel. If fumigation fits your boat and its site, you'll get a written scope and an individual quote before any work is scheduled.
