Insect Rodent Control When You Have Two Pest Problems

If you’re looking for insect rodent control, you probably have two problems at once. Roaches or ants may show up in the kitchen while something scratches in the attic at night. These pests behave differently and get into a home in different ways. They also need different treatments. So we inspect for both at the same visit and then recommend a service for each one.

Insects are usually handled through General Household Pest Control (GHP). The initial service treats both the inside and the outside of your home. After that, ongoing protection happens mainly outside, where a treated exterior barrier helps keep covered pests from getting in. If you notice covered pests inside between visits, or want an interior treatment at your next service, you can ask for it. GHP runs on a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly schedule. Rats and mice are handled through our rodent control service. That service seals the openings rodents use to get in and sets traps inside the home. The two services have separate agreements, separate terms and separate pricing, so you always know what each one covers.

Florida’s warm weather keeps insects active all year. Rooflines, soffits and vents give rodents plenty of ways in. If you treat only one problem, the other can keep growing. With a combined inspection, one inspector checks the whole property, explains what they found, and recommends the services your home actually needs.

Which Household Pests and Rodents Can We Treat?

One inspection can lead to several services, and each one keeps its own scope. Here’s what’s available:

  • General Household Pest Control (GHP): an initial interior and exterior treatment, followed by recurring exterior barrier treatments that help keep covered household pests out of the living space. Interior treatment is available on request when you notice covered pests inside. The scope is the same at every frequency. Only the visit schedule changes.
  • Roach flushout: a standalone treatment for heavy German roach activity.
  • Ant treatment: covers all ant species. Big-headed ants and carpenter ants are the most common targets.
  • Pantry pest flushout: for insects living in stored food and cabinets.
  • Flea and tick treatment: a separate service for fleas and ticks.
  • Rodent removal and exclusion: inspection for entry points, sealing, interior trapping and follow-up visits for rats and mice inside the structure.
  • Rodent monitoring: exterior bait stations around the perimeter, serviced monthly, to reduce outside rodent pressure. This is a separate agreement. It does not include trapping, sealing or removal.

GHP does not include termite, bed bug, mosquito or wildlife work. If your inspector sees signs of any of these, they’ll tell you and quote that service separately.

Warning Signs of Roaches, Ants and Rats in the Same Home

Many homeowners notice one pest first and find the second one later. Watch for these signs:

  • Roaches in the kitchen or bathroom at night, especially near sinks, appliances or cabinet hinges
  • Trails of ants along baseboards, countertops or window frames
  • Small insects or webbing in flour, cereal, rice or other pantry goods
  • Scratching, scurrying or thumping in the attic or walls after dark
  • Droppings in cabinets, drawers, the garage or the attic
  • Gnaw marks on food packaging, wiring, wood trim or stored boxes
  • Dark rub marks along walls, beams or pipes where rodents travel
  • Pets pawing or staring at walls, vents or ceilings
  • Visible gaps around soffits, roof vents or plumbing vent stacks

These signs are useful clues, but only an inspection can confirm which pests are active. If you notice several of them, schedule a free inspection.

How to Prepare for Your Pest Inspection and Service

For rodent exclusion, our team needs to get onto the roof and into the attic. Before the visit, clear a path to the attic hatch and unlock any side gates. For insect treatment, it helps to empty the space under sinks and pull stored items away from kitchen and bathroom baseboards.

After traps are set, keep pets and children away from them. Traps that get moved or bumped stop working as intended. If you notice new activity between visits, tell your technician so they can check it at the next follow-up.

What Happens During Combined Pest and Rodent Treatment?

Each service follows its own steps, so you always know which work is happening. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Free inspection, inside and out.

Your inspector checks kitchens, bathrooms, pantries and other living areas for insect activity. They also check the roofline, soffits, vents, gaps and attic for active and likely rodent entry points. Then they walk you through their recommendations for each service.

  2. Initial insect treatment, inside and out.

Your first GHP service treats both the interior and the exterior of your home.

  3. Recurring exterior barrier.

After the initial service, GHP visits focus on the outside of your home on the schedule you choose. We let you know when your next exterior service is due, and you can request an interior treatment then or whenever you notice covered pests inside. After every service, we email you a report showing the products used and the areas treated. If you add a flushout or another specialty insect service, it runs on its own schedule.

  4. Rodent sealing and trapping on visit one.

On the same first visit, your technician seals entry points and sets traps inside the home. Sealing pushes the rodents still inside toward the traps. Each opening gets professional, rodent-proof materials suited to it, including soffit returns, gaps, roof and gable vents, and plumbing vent stacks.

  5. Exterior bait stations where appropriate.

Perimeter bait stations help reduce rodent pressure outside the home. They go outside only.

  6. Rodent follow-up visits.

Removal takes at least two visits, 5 to 7 days apart. Visit one starts the work, but removal isn’t finished that day. Follow-up visits check the traps and activity.

  7. Optional attic sanitation add-on.

If rodents have contaminated your attic, you can add sanitation as a separately priced service. It includes removing contaminated insulation, sanitizing and deodorizing, and re-insulating where needed. It matters because soiled insulation holds odor and droppings. You decide whether to add it.

Your part is simple. Give us access to the attic and roofline, keep pets and children away from traps, don’t move anything we install, and tell us promptly if you see activity.

How Much Does Insect Rodent Control Cost?

Every home and every infestation is different, so combined work is quoted after a free inspection.

Each service is quoted on its own, based on what your inspector finds at your property. The quote reflects which pests are active, how much activity there is, and how much work each service requires. Your insect service and your rodent service are priced separately, with no combined package price. Add-ons such as attic sanitation or a roach flushout are quoted only if you want them. The standard inspection is free, and you’re under no obligation to accept any recommendation.

“Logan and Jon were incredibly knowledgeable and polite during their visit to our home. We highly recommend their services. Jon also came out to secure the roof again to make sure there were no additional sections that needed sealed. Jaime was also very informative as a sales rep!”

What the Rodent Exclusion Warranty Covers

The rodent exclusion comes with a limited warranty for the lifetime of the original purchaser, at the original treated address. If rodents get back in through a covered entry point, meaning one we identified, sealed and recorded on your Exclusion Form, we re-seal that point at no extra charge. Warranty service starts when you tell us about activity, and that inspection is free. We don’t schedule proactive annual inspections.

The warranty ends if the property changes hands. It doesn’t cover new openings, including ones rodents chew later. It also doesn’t cover entry points related to plumbing systems, roofing repairs, rodent damage, or other items listed in the agreement.

Your GHP insect service and your rodent service have separate agreements, and each one has its own scope, conditions and exclusions. Rodent monitoring is also a separate agreement, and it carries no warranty against rodents getting inside. None of these agreements is a pest-free promise. Before you sign, review the full warranty terms and check what each service covers at your home.

Frequently asked questions

Does regular pest control get rid of rats and mice?

No. GHP treats covered household pests inside the living space. Rats and mice need a separate service that seals entry points and sets traps. That's why a combined inspection often ends with two separate recommendations.

Can I start one service now and add the other later?

Yes. Each service has its own agreement, so you can start with the problem that bothers you most and add the other when you're ready. Your inspector will explain what they found for both.

Is DIY insect and rodent treatment enough?

Store-bought sprays and traps can kill the pests you see. They don't find or seal the roofline and vent openings that let rodents back in. A professional inspection shows where the problem starts.

How long does the rodent part of the job take?

Sealing and trapping start on the first visit. Removal takes at least two visits spaced 5 to 7 days apart, and more follow-ups may be needed depending on activity.

What happens to the rodent warranty if I sell my home?

The limited exclusion warranty isn't transferable, so it ends when ownership changes. The new owner can contact us to schedule their own inspection. You can review the full warranty terms before you sign.
