Frequently asked questions
Does the termite baiting system protect against drywood termites?
No. The standard baiting agreement covers Eastern subterranean and Formosan termites. It excludes both drywood termites and aerial (above-ground) infestations, which are separate problems. Drywood termites live entirely inside wood and need a drywood service, such as spot treatment, a drywood bond or fumigation. An aerial infestation is a subterranean colony active above ground. Once the inspector identifies the species, it needs a separate compatible treatment under its own agreement. A drywood bond does not cover Formosan termites.
Do I have to leave my home during termite treatment?
It depends on the method. Tent fumigation typically means vacating for two nights and three days, and no one can go back in until the licensed fumigator posts clearance. A Formosan liquid soil treatment doesn't require you to leave, but people and pets need to stay clear of the work area until the application dries or is watered in.
Is a termite inspection for a home sale free?
The standard inspection is free. An official WDO report for a sale or closing is a separate paid service, and we quote it before scheduling.
How soon can someone come out to inspect?
We respond the same day, and new customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours. Same-day appointments depend on availability and preparation.
Does termite coverage transfer if I sell my Ave Maria home?
It depends on the service, so review the warranty terms in your agreement before you list the home. The drywood bond, drywood fumigation and Formosan liquid agreements can transfer to a new owner if we receive written notice within thirty days of closing, and the transfer covers only the rest of the current term. The standard baiting agreement also requires written notice from the new owner within thirty days of the transfer. Spot treatment coverage isn't transferable, and Formosan fumigation carries no warranty to transfer.
