Termite Treatment in Doral: Identify the Species Before Choosing a Method

If you are comparing options for termite treatment in Doral, start by finding out which termite you have. South Florida homes can have drywood termites, which live entirely inside wood. They can also have subterranean termites. Native subterranean termites depend on soil, and Formosan subterranean termites are handled with their own set of methods. Each group needs a different method. A treatment that works well on one can do nothing to the other.

On Demand Pest Control starts every Doral job with a free inspection of the accessible areas of your home. Our inspector looks for evidence such as discarded wings, droppings and damaged wood. The inspector then explains what that evidence points to and gives you a written quote for the services that match your termite.

Our termite treatment catalog has seven services, grouped by species. For drywood termites we offer one-year and three-year drywood bonds, localized spot treatment and whole-house drywood fumigation. For subterranean colonies, including Formosan termites, we offer a soil-based baiting system. For Formosan termites we also offer Formosan fumigation and Formosan liquid treatment. We choose from these once the species is identified. Your home does not go through every service. You get a written quote for the ones that are compatible with the termite we find.

Our East Coast branch in Davie serves Miami-Dade County, including Doral. We respond the same day you contact us. New customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours, and same-day appointments depend on availability and preparation.

What Drywood, Formosan and Subterranean Treatments Involve

Drywood bond work can include attic treatment, spot injections or radius treatment in the wood members where activity was found. Drywood and Formosan fumigation both tent the whole structure and use sulfuryl fluoride gas, and the Formosan version uses a higher dosage. Formosan liquid treatment involves trenching along the foundation, drilling and injecting under slabs that meet the house, and spot or foam treatment where activity is known. The drill holes are patched but stay visible. A baiting system places stations in the soil around the home to target subterranean colonies. It does not treat drywood termites or above-ground activity.

When Termites Swarm in Florida

A mature colony releases winged termites to start new colonies. According to UF/IFAS, swarm timing in Florida depends on the species, so no single “termite season” covers all of them. These are statewide regional patterns, not counts of activity in any one city:

  • Formosan subterranean termites: usually swarm between early April and late June, shortly after sunset, with a peak in May. One flight can include tens of thousands of termites. If a structure is already infested, the swarm can happen indoors.
  • West Indian drywood termites: fly from April to June, though flights can happen at any time of year. The colony lives entirely inside wood and has no contact with soil. UF/IFAS notes that these termites get moisture both from water bound to the wood they feed on and from their own metabolic processes.
  • Native subterranean termites (Reticulitermes): Florida’s three species each swarm at a different time. R. hageni flies in the evening from early December to early February. R. flavipes flies from early January through April. R. virginicus flies from early February to late May. The last two usually fly on warm, sunny, still early afternoons, often after rain.

So winged termites seen in January may be a different species from the ones around a porch light on a May evening. UF/IFAS also notes that established native subterranean colonies in Florida feed on wood all year, not just during swarm season. That is why it makes sense to book an inspection as soon as you notice signs, whatever the month.

How a Termite Inspection and Treatment Plan Works

Every Doral termite job follows the same order. We confirm the species first, then match the service to it.

  1. Free inspection.

Our inspector checks the accessible areas of your home for termite evidence and for conditions that attract termites, such as moisture or wood touching soil.

  2. Species identification.

The evidence shows whether the activity is drywood, native subterranean or Formosan. That answer decides which services can work.

  3. Written options and quote.

You get a written quote for the compatible services, along with the coverage terms for each one. Some drywood activity can be handled with a localized spot treatment or a bond. Other homes need whole-house fumigation, a baiting system or Formosan liquid treatment.

  4. Preparation for your chosen method.

Each method has its own prep. For fumigation, you follow a preparation checklist and leave the home, typically for two nights and three days. You return only after the licensed fumigator posts clearance. Liquid treatment does not require you to leave. People and pets stay clear of the work area, and off treated soil until it has been watered in or has dried. Installing a baiting system involves drilling and digging around the home’s perimeter.

  5. Treatment by a technician.

A technician applies the treatment you selected, following the product label.

  6. Follow-up under your agreement.

What happens next depends on your contract. Drywood bond, drywood fumigation, spot and Formosan liquid warranties are reactive: you report activity and we schedule an inspection. With the baiting system, the stations are inspected at least once a year while coverage is active. Formosan fumigation includes no retreatment or reinspection obligation, and any later treatment is quoted as new work.

What Termite Treatment Costs in Doral

Termite pricing depends on the species and the method. The published starting figure below applies only to a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home.

Termite protection in Doral starts around $975 for a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home.

Every other termite service is quoted separately after the inspection. That includes three-year bonds, spot treatment, drywood or Formosan fumigation, Formosan liquid treatment and baiting system installation. Price mainly depends on the home’s size and layout, how widespread the activity is, which method suits the species, and whether you choose optional renewal coverage. Official WDO reports for real estate closings are a separate paid service, also quoted individually. Every standard termite job starts with a free inspection and a written quote, so you know the cost before any work begins.

What On Demand Pest Control Customers Say

★★★★★

“Aiden was excellent! On his own initiative, he checked the wooden table and mirror by the front door where the dead termites had been found. He also checked another piece of wooden furniture that was nearby. He also found a new hole that the termites had made and was very thorough in treating the whole area. We are very pleased with his service and would highly recommend him to our friends.”

— A. Jones
★★★★★

“On Friday morning I saw what appeared to be droppings from drywood termites in my cabinet. I sent an online inquiry about a termite inspection. I received a call within 10 minutes, and by 130 that afternoon Bill came by to do a free inspection. Bill was knowledgeable, thorough, honest, and polite. He didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need and provided a synopsis of possible treatments.”

— L. Shortt
★★★★★

“My neighbors used them and they came highly recommended. I called, they scheduled right away to come out, scheduled the tenting for termites right away, and scheduled the walk through appointment. Matthew Klein Senior inspector came out and is my rep now. He is very thorough, honest, and upfront. They do not add additional services just because, they listen to your needs, no games.”

— C. Luongo

Licensed and insured in Florida

Yes. On Demand Pest Control holds Pest Control License #JB259950, issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Florida licenses pest control at the state level, so no separate county license is needed for our work in Doral and across Miami-Dade County. We perform our services in line with the Florida Structural Pest Control Act.

Choosing a Termite Company in Doral: What Sets ODPC Apart

Here is what you can check for yourself before you hire us:

  • State license on record. We hold Pest Control License #JB259950, issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance.
  • Seven termite services matched to the species. Our options are drywood bonds, spot treatment, drywood fumigation, Formosan fumigation, Formosan liquid treatment and a baiting system. You get a method that fits your termite, not one approach used on every house.
  • Coverage explained honestly for each method. Every service comes with a written agreement, and we tell you up front how they differ. Formosan fumigation carries no warranty, spot treatment covers the treated areas for 60 days, and the other services have their own terms.
  • Free standard inspections and local coverage. The standard inspection and written quote are free. An official WDO report for a real estate transaction is a separate paid service. Our Davie branch serves Doral, and new customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours.

Termite Warranty Coverage Depends on the Treatment Method

Each termite service comes with its own written agreement, and the warranty terms change a lot from one method to the next. Drywood bonds start with a one-year or three-year term, and drywood fumigation starts with a one-year term. While the term is active, covered drywood activity is re-treated at no extra charge, and you can choose to renew one year at a time after that. Drywood spot treatment covers only the specific treated areas, for 60 days. It cannot be renewed or transferred to a new owner.

The baiting system includes the first year of station monitoring and servicing, and renewing after that is optional. Formosan liquid treatment has a one-year renewable warranty that covers further liquid treatment only and never includes fumigation. Formosan fumigation is sold with no warranty. None of our termite agreements pays for repairs to damaged wood.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to tent my Doral home for termites?

Not always. Tent fumigation is one option for widespread drywood termite activity, and a separate version is used for Formosan termites. Localized drywood activity can sometimes be handled with spot treatment or a bond. Subterranean colonies can be addressed with a baiting system, and Formosan termites can also be treated with liquid treatment.

How much does a termite inspection cost in Doral?

A standard termite inspection is free and comes with a written quote. An official WDO report for a home sale or closing is a separate paid service, quoted individually.

What is the difference between drywood and subterranean termites?

Drywood termites live entirely inside the wood they eat and need no contact with soil. Native subterranean termites depend on soil, and Formosan subterranean termites are treated with their own methods. Drywood termites are treated with bonds, spot treatment or drywood fumigation. Subterranean termites are treated with a baiting system, and Formosan termites also have liquid treatment and Formosan fumigation options.

Does Formosan fumigation come with a warranty?

No. Formosan fumigation is a one-time treatment sold with no warranty and no included retreatment. For ongoing coverage against Formosan termites, you can choose liquid treatment or a baiting system, each under its own agreement.

Does a termite warranty cover wood damage?

No. None of our termite agreements covers repairing or replacing damaged wood. Depending on the service, coverage is limited to retreatment, further liquid treatment, or monitoring and servicing of bait stations, as described in your written agreement.
