Termite Treatment in Lauderdale By The Sea Starts With Knowing the Species

Termite treatment in Lauderdale By The Sea starts with one question: which termite is in your home? The town sits on a long, narrow barrier island. The Intracoastal Waterway runs along one side, and the Atlantic Ocean is about half a dozen blocks away on the other. More than one kind of termite can affect homes along that strip, and each kind needs its own approach.

A drywood termite colony lives within the wood it feeds on. The colony gets moisture from that wood, so it never needs contact with soil. Mature colonies do produce winged swarmers that leave on mating flights to start new colonies. Subterranean termites, including the Formosan termite, behave differently. They typically reach a structure from the soil, and above-ground (aerial) infestations can also occur. A treatment that works well on one group can do nothing for the other. That is why our inspector identifies the termite before recommending anything.

On Demand Pest Control offers several distinct termite treatment services, and each one is built for a specific species group. For drywood termites, the options are localized spot treatment, a drywood termite bond, or whole-house tent fumigation. For Formosan termites, the options are a liquid soil treatment, a Formosan-rate fumigation, or a termite baiting system. The baiting system also covers Eastern subterranean termites. Your inspection shows which of these options fit your home, and your written quote lays them out side by side.

Every standard termite inspection is free. An official wood-destroying organism report for a real estate closing is a separate paid service, and we quote it on request.

Drywood and Subterranean Termite Work: What Happens on Site

Termite work looks different depending on the species and the method. Drywood jobs focus on the wood itself. A technician may inject localized galleries, treat the attic, or tent the whole structure for fumigation. Formosan fumigation also tents the whole structure. Soil-based Formosan and subterranean jobs focus on the ground around your home. That can mean trenching and applying termiticide along the foundation, drilling beneath slabs that touch the house, or setting bait stations into the ground around the perimeter. Drill holes are patched, but they stay visible. Your quote explains which of these steps your home needs before treatment day.

When Do Termites Swarm in Lauderdale By The Sea?

Many homeowners first notice termites when swarmers appear. Swarmers are the winged termites that leave a mature colony to start new ones. Florida’s termite species swarm at different times, so no single calendar fits all of them. These are the Florida swarm windows for the main species:

  • Formosan termites: usually swarm from early April through late June, shortly after sunset. Activity peaks in May. One flight can include tens of thousands of termites, and when a structure is infested, the swarm can happen indoors.
  • West Indian drywood termites: mating flights run from April to June, but flights can happen at any time of year. After the flight, pairs look for a crack, hole, or knot in wood to start a new colony.
  • Native subterranean termites: Florida has three species, and each swarms on its own schedule. One flies from early December into early February, usually in the evening. Another flies from early January through April. The third flies from early February through late May. The last two usually fly on warm, sunny, still early afternoons after rain.

Not seeing swarmers doesn’t mean you don’t have termites. Established native subterranean colonies in Florida feed on wood all year. A West Indian drywood colony takes about five years to mature before it produces swarmers, and that colony can live more than ten years. If you find discarded wings on a windowsill, or winged insects around lights after dusk in spring, save a few in a sealed bag and book a free inspection. Every recommendation after that depends on which species it is.

How a Termite Inspection and Treatment Plan Works

Every plan starts the same way. What happens at the treatment step depends on what the inspection finds.

  1. Free inspection.

Our inspector looks over the accessible areas of your home for termite activity.

  2. Species identification.

We confirm whether the activity is drywood, Formosan, or another subterranean termite. That tells us which treatments will work.

  3. Written options and quote.

You get a written quote that lists the services that fit your situation and explains how each one’s coverage works.

  4. Preparation for your method.

Before fumigation, you complete a preparation checklist. You then leave the home, usually for two nights and three days, and return only after the licensed fumigator tests clearance levels and posts a written clearance notice. Before a liquid treatment, you clear the foundation and mark buried lines. You don’t need to leave the home. Installing a baiting system means digging in the soil around the home.

  5. Treatment with a matching method.

For drywood termites, the options are spot injections, a bond service (attic treatment, spot injections, or radius treatment), or whole-house fumigation with sulfuryl fluoride. For Formosan termites, a technician can trench along the foundation and drill and inject beneath slabs that touch the house. During a liquid treatment, people and pets stay clear of the work area while the work is in progress, and off treated soil until the application has been watered in or has dried. The other Formosan options are fumigation at the higher Formosan dosage or a baiting system installed in the soil around the perimeter.

  6. Follow-up under your contract.

If you notice termite activity, tell us promptly. What happens next depends on your contract. During an active baiting term, the stations are inspected and serviced at least once a year.

What Termite Treatment Costs in Lauderdale By The Sea

Termite pricing depends on the species and the method, so one number can’t describe every job. The published starting figure below applies only to a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home.

Termite protection in Lauderdale By The Sea starts around $975 for a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home.

Every other service gets its own quote after the inspection. That includes three-year bonds, spot treatment, drywood fumigation, Formosan fumigation, Formosan liquid treatment, and baiting systems. The main factors that affect price:

  • Termite species: drywood and subterranean termites need different services.
  • Home size and layout: fumigation depends on cubic footage and configuration. Baiting and liquid work depend on the length of the perimeter.
  • Extent of activity: a few localized spots cost less to treat than widespread activity.
  • Coverage term: whether you choose a one-year or three-year bond, and whether you add optional renewals.
  • Site conditions: slabs, pavers, and landscaping along the foundation affect trenching and drilling.

Every job starts with a free inspection and a written quote. Official wood-destroying organism reports for real estate closings are paid and quoted separately.

What On Demand Pest Control Customers Say

★★★★★

“Aiden was excellent! On his own initiative, he checked the wooden table and mirror by the front door where the dead termites had been found. He also checked another piece of wooden furniture that was nearby. He also found a new hole that the termites had made and was very thorough in treating the whole area. We are very pleased with his service and would highly recommend him to our friends.”

— A. Jones
★★★★★

“On Friday morning I saw what appeared to be droppings from drywood termites in my cabinet. I sent an online inquiry about a termite inspection. I received a call within 10 minutes, and by 130 that afternoon Bill came by to do a free inspection. Bill was knowledgeable, thorough, honest, and polite. He didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need and provided a synopsis of possible treatments.”

— L. Shortt
★★★★★

“My neighbors used them and they came highly recommended. I called, they scheduled right away to come out, scheduled the tenting for termites right away, and scheduled the walk through appointment. Matthew Klein Senior inspector came out and is my rep now. He is very thorough, honest, and upfront. They do not add additional services just because, they listen to your needs, no games.”

Yes. On Demand Pest Control holds a Florida pest control business license issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services: Pest Control License #JB259950. Florida licenses pest control at the state level, so that one license covers work in Lauderdale By The Sea.

We carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Termite services that involve wood-destroying organisms also come with state disclosure requirements, and your written contract addresses them.

Choosing a Termite Company in Lauderdale By The Sea

Look for a company that identifies the termite first and puts the terms in writing. Here is what we offer:

  • Licensed and insured: Pest Control License #JB259950, with general liability and workers’ compensation coverage.
  • A method for each species: drywood, Formosan, and subterranean services are separate options, so one treatment isn’t forced onto every problem.
  • Written, contract-specific coverage: each service’s term, renewal option, and limits are in writing before you sign.
  • Responsive scheduling: we respond the same day. New customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours. Same-day appointments depend on availability and preparation.

Termite Warranty Coverage: What Each Treatment Includes

No single termite warranty covers every service. Each treatment comes with its own written coverage:

  • Drywood termite bond: a one-year or three-year term. During the term, any additional drywood treatment we decide is needed costs nothing extra. You can extend it with optional annual renewals.
  • Drywood fumigation: a one-year initial term with optional annual renewal. If activity is covered, we re-treat at no additional charge.
  • Drywood spot treatment: covers only the specific areas we treated, for sixty days. It can’t be renewed or transferred.
  • Formosan liquid treatment: one year, with optional renewal. The remedy is further liquid treatment only. Fumigation is never part of this warranty.
  • Termite baiting system: the first year of station monitoring comes with installation, and annual renewals are optional after that. It covers subterranean termites only.
  • Formosan fumigation: sold with no warranty and no included retreatment.

None of these warranties pays for wood repair or termite damage. Drywood coverage doesn’t include subterranean or Formosan termites. Formosan liquid coverage is limited to Formosan termites. The baiting system doesn’t cover drywood termites or above-ground (aerial) infestations. Your contract has the full details.

Frequently asked questions

How much does termite treatment cost in Lauderdale By The Sea?

The cost depends on the termite species, the size of your home, and the method. The starting figure on this page applies only to a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home. Every other service is quoted individually after a free inspection.

Do I have to leave my home during termite treatment?

For fumigation, yes. You'll usually be out for two nights and three days, and you can go back only after the licensed fumigator posts clearance. A Formosan liquid treatment doesn't require you to leave. People and pets must stay clear of the work area while the work is in progress, and off treated soil until the application has been watered in or has dried. Spot treatment, bond work, and baiting each have their own access and preparation needs, and your quote explains them.

Does a termite warranty pay to repair damaged wood?

No. None of our termite warranties covers wood repair or termite damage. Coverage is limited to re-treatment or, for baiting, station monitoring and servicing. Read a service's warranty terms carefully before you choose it. Terms differ by method: a drywood bond, a Formosan liquid treatment, and a baiting system each have their own length, renewal option, and transfer rules. Spot treatment coverage lasts sixty days and can't be transferred. Formosan fumigation comes with no warranty at all.

Is a termite report for a real estate closing free?

No. Our standard inspection is free, but an official wood-destroying organism report for a real estate closing is a paid service. In Florida, that report uses form FDACS-13645. Contact us for a quote.

Will tent fumigation solve a Formosan termite problem for good?

Formosan fumigation is designed to eliminate the Formosan termites in the structure on the day of treatment. It comes with no warranty and no included retreatment. If termites come back later, any new treatment is quoted separately. For ongoing coverage, a Formosan liquid treatment or a termite baiting system are separate options with their own written terms.
