Termite Treatment in Margate Starts With Knowing Which Termite You Have

If you need termite treatment in Margate, start with a free inspection. It shows which termite is in your home and where it is working. Shed wings on a windowsill, wood that sounds hollow and a swarm indoors can each point to a different termite. That difference decides which treatment will work.

Two broad termite groups matter to South Florida homeowners. Drywood termite colonies live inside the wood they feed on and don’t need contact with soil. Subterranean termites, including the Formosan termite, typically depend on the soil and usually reach wood from the ground. A method built for one group can miss the other. That is why we don’t use one plan for every home.

On Demand Pest Control offers seven termite services, and the right termite treatment depends on what the inspection finds. Drywood options include localized spot treatment, a one-year or three-year drywood termite bond, and whole-house tent fumigation. For subterranean termites, a baiting system is available. Formosan termites have three options: the baiting system, Formosan liquid treatment and Formosan fumigation. Your inspector explains which options fit your home and why. You get a written quote before any work is scheduled.

What Drywood and Subterranean Termite Work Involves

Each termite service is physical work on a different part of the house. Drywood bond work happens mostly in the attic, where technicians walk the framing to treat the wood identified during the inspection. Tent fumigation covers the whole house with tarps. After treatment, the home is aerated, and a licensed fumigator tests it before posting clearance.

Subterranean work happens at ground level. Installing bait stations means digging in the soil around the house. Formosan liquid treatment means trenching along the foundation and drilling through slabs that touch it, such as patios or walkways. The drill holes are patched but stay visible.

When Do Termites Swarm Around Margate Homes?

Florida termites don’t share one calendar. Each species has its own swarm window, so winged termites in a Margate living room in January may be a different termite from the ones you see in May. University of Florida IFAS research gives this timing for the species found in Florida:

  • Formosan termites: these usually swarm between early April and late June, shortly after sunset, with the peak in May. One flight can include tens of thousands of winged termites. If the house is infested, the swarm can happen indoors.
  • Native subterranean termites: Florida’s three Reticulitermes species swarm at different times. R. hageni flies from early December to early February, in the evening. R. flavipes flies from early January through April. R. virginicus flies from early February to late May.
  • West Indian drywood termites: this species (Cryptotermes brevis) makes mating flights from April to June. Flights can also happen at any other time of year.

Weather also matters for the native subterranean species. UF/IFAS notes that R. flavipes and R. virginicus usually fly on warm, sunny, windless early afternoons, often after rain. If you see winged insects in your Margate home on a calm afternoon after a winter rain, write down the date and time. That detail helps your inspector narrow down the species.

A drywood swarm also says something about the colony’s age. According to UF/IFAS, West Indian drywood colonies don’t produce winged termites until they mature at about five years old, and a colony can live more than ten years. Swarmers coming from a wall or ceiling usually mean an established colony that has been feeding out of sight.

How Termite Inspection and Treatment Work, Step by Step

The treatment follows the termite you have. Here is how it usually goes, from the first visit to finished treatment:

  1. Free inspection.

Your inspector checks the accessible areas of your home for termite activity and signs of damage.

  2. Termite identification.

The inspector determines whether the activity is drywood, native subterranean or Formosan. This decides which services can work at all.

  3. Written options and quote.

You get the compatible options for your home, each with its own scope, terms and price. You choose the one that fits your goals and budget.

  4. Preparation for your chosen method.

Fumigation comes with a preparation checklist and requires everyone to leave the home. Liquid treatment requires clearing items away from the foundation and marking buried lines. Baiting needs access to the soil around the house. Bond work needs attic access.

  5. Treatment by a technician.

A technician applies the method you chose:

  • Drywood termites: attic treatment, spot injections or radius treatment under a bond, localized spot treatment, or tent fumigation.
  • Native subterranean termites: installation of the baiting system.
  • Formosan termites: the baiting system, Formosan liquid treatment or Formosan fumigation.
  1. Follow-up under your agreement.

After treatment, your coverage follows the contract for that method. Formosan fumigation has no follow-up coverage. The baiting agreement includes inspection of the installed stations at least once a year during the initial term and any optional renewal term, with stations and bait serviced as needed. Most of the other agreements work on a reactive basis: you report signs of activity, and an inspection is scheduled.

How Much Does Termite Treatment Cost in Margate?

Termite pricing depends on the termite and the method, so we publish only one reference price. It applies only to a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home.

Termite protection in Margate starts around $975 for a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home.

Every other method is quoted individually after the inspection. That includes spot treatment, the three-year bond, drywood and Formosan fumigation, Formosan liquid treatment and the baiting system. Your written quote identifies:

  • Termite species: drywood, native subterranean or Formosan termites, since each calls for a different service.
  • Selected method: the specific treatment recommended for the activity found.
  • Scope and home: the areas of your home the service covers.
  • Term and renewal: the applicable agreement term and any renewal terms.

Standard termite inspections are free, and every job starts with a written quote so you see the scope before you commit. Official WDO real-estate reports are a separate paid service, quoted on request.

When you call, these details help your inspector prepare:

  • Your address and type of home, so the visit can be scheduled and planned.
  • Where you saw signs, such as shed wings, swarmers, damaged wood or activity near the foundation.
  • When you saw the activity, because the time of day and the season can point to the species.
  • Attic and exterior access, including where the attic hatch is and anything stored along the foundation.

What Customers Say About On Demand Pest Control

★★★★★

“Aiden was excellent! On his own initiative, he checked the wooden table and mirror by the front door where the dead termites had been found. He also checked another piece of wooden furniture that was nearby. He also found a new hole that the termites had made and was very thorough in treating the whole area. We are very pleased with his service and would highly recommend him to our friends.”

— A. Jones
★★★★★

“On Friday morning I saw what appeared to be droppings from drywood termites in my cabinet. I sent an online inquiry about a termite inspection. I received a call within 10 minutes, and by 130 that afternoon Bill came by to do a free inspection. Bill was knowledgeable, thorough, honest, and polite. He didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need and provided a synopsis of possible treatments.”

— L. Shortt
★★★★★

“My neighbors used them and they came highly recommended. I called, they scheduled right away to come out, scheduled the tenting for termites right away, and scheduled the walk through appointment. Matthew Klein Senior inspector came out and is my rep now. He is very thorough, honest, and upfront. They do not add additional services just because, they listen to your needs, no games.”

Why Margate Homeowners Choose ODPC for Termite Work

Choosing a termite company comes down to fit, clarity and follow-through. Here is what Margate homeowners get from us:

  • Seven termite services matched to species: drywood, native subterranean and Formosan termites each have their own compatible options. We don’t offer bait stations for drywood termites or tenting for native subterranean termites.
  • A free inspection and a written quote: the standard inspection costs nothing, and you see the scope and price in writing before anything is scheduled.
  • Written terms for each method: some agreements have an initial term with optional yearly renewal. Spot treatment has a 60-day term that can’t be renewed. Formosan fumigation is sold with no warranty. You know which terms apply before you choose.
  • Scheduling from our East Coast office in Davie: we respond the same day. New customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours. Same-day appointments depend on availability and preparation.

Termite Warranty Coverage: What Each Method Includes

There is no single termite warranty, because coverage depends on the method. The drywood bond starts with a one-year or three-year term. Drywood fumigation starts with a one-year term. Both include re-treatment at no extra charge when covered activity is found during the term, and both can be extended with a yearly renewal. Spot treatment covers only the listed areas for 60 days and can’t be renewed or transferred. Formosan liquid treatment has a one-year renewable term that covers further liquid treatment only. The baiting system includes first-year station monitoring and servicing, and yearly renewal is optional.

Formosan fumigation comes with no warranty, no renewal and no included retreatment. None of these agreements pay for wood repair or termite damage. Before you sign, review the written warranty terms for the option you’re considering, including any renewal fee and transfer notice where applicable, and the conditions the agreement excludes.

Frequently asked questions

Is a termite inspection in Margate free?

Yes, the standard inspection is free. It covers the accessible areas of your home and ends with written treatment options. An official WDO real-estate report for a sale or refinance is a separate paid service. Florida uses form FDACS-13645 for these reports, and we quote them on request.

Do I have to leave my home for termite treatment?

It depends on the method. Tent fumigation requires leaving the home, typically for two nights and three days. It can take longer because of weather, foam-insulated attics or the size of the house. No one may enter the home until the licensed fumigator posts clearance. Liquid soil treatment doesn't require leaving, but people and pets must stay clear of the work area while work is in progress and stay off treated soil until the application has been watered in or has dried. Other methods have their own preparation steps, and your inspector explains them before scheduling.

Can bait stations stop drywood termites?

No. The baiting system targets subterranean termites, including Formosan termites, and doesn't cover above-ground infestations. Drywood termites are treated with spot treatment, a drywood bond or tent fumigation. Identifying the species first keeps you from paying for a method that can't reach your termites.

How soon can someone come out to my Margate home?

We respond the same day you contact us. New customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours. Same-day appointments depend on availability and preparation, so call early if you've seen a swarm.

Does termite treatment pay for repairing damaged wood?

No. None of our termite agreements include wood repair or reimbursement for termite damage, whether the damage happened before or after treatment. Treatment targets the termite activity itself. If your inspector finds damaged or moisture-affected wood, a qualified contractor should handle the repairs.
