Termite Treatment in North Lauderdale Starts With Knowing Which Termite You Have

If you are looking for termite treatment in North Lauderdale, the first question is which termite is in the house. A drywood termite colony lives inside the wood it feeds on. Subterranean termites, including the Formosan termite, typically have colonies tied to the soil. The two groups need different methods, and a plan built for one does little against the other. That is why On Demand Pest Control starts every termite job with a free inspection and identifies the termite before anyone quotes a treatment.

North Lauderdale is in Broward County, inside the territory our East Coast branch in Davie serves. Our inspector checks the accessible areas of your home for evidence of termite activity and for conditions that attract termites. They identify the species and give you written options. Those findings decide what we recommend.

We offer seven termite treatment services, and each one is matched to a specific type of termite. For drywood termites, the options are a one-year or three-year drywood bond, a localized spot treatment, or whole-house tent fumigation. For subterranean termites, including Formosan colonies, we can install an in-ground baiting system. Formosan termites have two more options: a liquid soil treatment and a fumigation at the higher Formosan dosage. You choose from the options that fit what the inspector actually found.

Signs of Drywood and Subterranean Termites Our Inspectors Look For

Each type of termite leaves different evidence, and that evidence helps an inspector tell them apart. A drywood termite colony lives inside the wood it feeds on, so its signs, such as frass and damaged wood, tend to show up in or near the infested wood. Subterranean termites travel between the soil and wood, and mud tubes are a common sign of their activity. Shed wings on windowsills or near lights can point to a recent swarm from either group. Those findings decide which options appear on your written quote.

When Termites Swarm in South Florida, by Species

Termite swarms are the winged mating flights that start new colonies, and their timing depends on the species. University of Florida IFAS research shows that Florida’s termites don’t all swarm at the same time of year:

  • Formosan subterranean termites: swarm between early April and late June, shortly after sunset, with peak activity in May. A single flight can hold tens of thousands of insects. If a building is infested, the swarm can happen indoors.
  • West Indian drywood termites: fly from April to June, though flights can happen at any time of year. A colony produces winged termites only once it matures, at about five years of age, so a swarm from this species points to an established colony.
  • Native subterranean termites (Reticulitermes): Florida has three species, and each swarms at a different time. R. hageni flies in the evening from early December to early February. R. flavipes flies from early January through April. R. virginicus flies from early February to late May. The last two usually fly in the early afternoon on warm, sunny, windless days, often after rain.

For a North Lauderdale homeowner, this means one species or another can be swarming during much of the year. An evening swarm in late spring fits the Formosan pattern. An early-afternoon flight after rain in late winter or early spring fits the native subterranean species. If you find winged termites or wings they have shed, seal a few in a plastic bag. They help our inspector confirm the species and choose a treatment that works on it.

How a Termite Job Works, From Inspection to Treatment

Termite work has its own process, built around the species and the house. Here is what to expect:

  1. Book a free inspection.

We respond the same day you contact us. New customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours, and same-day appointments depend on availability and preparation.

  2. Inspection of accessible areas.

Our inspector checks the accessible areas of the home for termite evidence, such as frass, mud tubes, shed wings and damaged wood. They also note conditions that attract termites, such as wood touching soil or ongoing moisture.

  3. Identify the termite.

The inspector confirms whether the activity is drywood, native subterranean or Formosan, because the species decides which services can work.

  4. Review written options.

You get a written quote that lists only the methods that fit the species:

  • Drywood termites: a bond, spot treatment or tent fumigation.
  • Native subterranean termites: a baiting system.
  • Formosan termites: a baiting system, liquid soil treatment or Formosan fumigation.
  1. Prepare for the method you chose.

Each method has its own prep rules. Tent fumigation usually means leaving the home for two nights and three days, and no one goes back in until the licensed fumigator posts clearance. Formosan liquid treatment doesn’t require leaving the house. You do need to clear items from along the foundation and mark any buried lines. Keep people and pets away from the work area and off treated soil until it has been watered in or has dried. Installing bait stations means digging in the soil around the house.

  2. Treatment by a technician.

A technician applies the treatment you chose according to the product label. Your signed agreement sets the coverage from then on.

What Termite Treatment Costs in North Lauderdale

Termite pricing depends on the species, the size of the house and the method. The published starting price below applies to one service only, a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home.

Termite protection in North Lauderdale starts around $975 for a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home.

Every other termite service is quoted individually. That includes the three-year bond, spot treatment, drywood and Formosan fumigation, Formosan liquid treatment and baiting system installation. The main cost factors are the home’s size and layout, how far the termites have spread, the species, and whether you choose a one-time treatment or one with a renewable term. Every job starts with a free inspection and a written quote, so you see the full cost before you decide. If you need an official wood-destroying organism (WDO) report for a sale or refinance, that is a separate paid service, and we quote it on request.

Homes We Serve Throughout North Lauderdale

Homeowners anywhere in North Lauderdale can book a termite inspection with us. Our East Coast branch in Davie covers the city as part of its Broward County service area. Every home within city limits gets the same free inspection, species identification and written options described above. Where your home sits in the city doesn’t change the process.

When you call, give our office your full street address. Boulevard of Champions, a road corridor in North Lauderdale, is one landmark you can mention if it helps with directions. Our coverage is citywide and isn’t tied to any one street.

A little preparation helps the visit go smoothly, wherever you live in the city:

  • Clear the attic access: move stored items away from the hatch so the inspector can reach the framing.
  • Open up the perimeter: pull back items stacked against exterior walls so the foundation and slab edges are visible.
  • Save the evidence: keep any shed wings or winged termites you’ve found in a sealed bag.
  • Note the locations: tell the inspector where you saw activity, such as a windowsill, a door frame or a garage wall.

What On Demand Pest Control Customers Say

★★★★★

“Aiden was excellent! On his own initiative, he checked the wooden table and mirror by the front door where the dead termites had been found. He also checked another piece of wooden furniture that was nearby. He also found a new hole that the termites had made and was very thorough in treating the whole area. We are very pleased with his service and would highly recommend him to our friends.”

— A. Jones
★★★★★

“On Friday morning I saw what appeared to be droppings from drywood termites in my cabinet. I sent an online inquiry about a termite inspection. I received a call within 10 minutes, and by 130 that afternoon Bill came by to do a free inspection. Bill was knowledgeable, thorough, honest, and polite. He didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need and provided a synopsis of possible treatments.”

— L. Shortt
★★★★★

“My neighbors used them and they came highly recommended. I called, they scheduled right away to come out, scheduled the tenting for termites right away, and scheduled the walk through appointment. Matthew Klein Senior inspector came out and is my rep now. He is very thorough, honest, and upfront. They do not add additional services just because, they listen to your needs, no games.”

Choosing a Termite Company in North Lauderdale: What to Compare

When you compare termite companies, check whether each one matches the treatment to the termite, and how clearly it explains coverage. Here is what we offer:

  • Treatment based on the species: we identify drywood, native subterranean or Formosan termites before quoting, and we only offer methods that work on that species.
  • Seven termite services: bonds, spot treatment, drywood and Formosan fumigation, Formosan liquid treatment and baiting give you a range of choices beyond tenting.
  • Written coverage for each method: every service has its own agreement, so you know the term, renewal options and limits before you sign.
  • A nearby branch: our Davie branch serves North Lauderdale. We respond the same day, and new customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours.

Termite Warranty Coverage: What Each Treatment Includes

Each termite service is governed by its own written agreement. Here is a plain summary:

  • Drywood termite bond: covers active drywood termites in the areas found during the inspection. Any extra drywood treatment we decide is needed during the term is included. The first term is one or three years, and after that you can renew one year at a time. Reinspections happen when you ask for one. If you report termite activity, we inspect at no charge.
  • Drywood tent fumigation: a one-year first term with optional yearly renewal. Extra drywood treatment is included during the term. As with the bond, we reinspect when you ask, and an inspection after you report activity is free.
  • Drywood spot treatment: 60 days of coverage for the treated spots only. During those 60 days, any additional drywood treatment we decide is needed in the treated spots is included at no additional charge. It cannot be renewed or transferred to a new owner. Reinspection happens only when you request it and may carry a service fee.
  • Formosan liquid treatment: a one-year first term with optional renewal. If covered Formosan activity comes back, you get more liquid treatment only. Fumigation is never part of this warranty. Reinspections happen when you ask.
  • Termite baiting system: the first year of monitoring comes with installation, and renewal is optional after that. While coverage is active, we check the installed stations at least once a year and service them as needed. You can also ask for an extra visit at no charge if you see termite activity or disturbed stations. It covers subterranean termites only, not termites nesting above ground (aerial infestations).
  • Formosan fumigation: sold with no warranty. After clearance there is no obligation to re-treat or reinspect. Any later treatment is quoted as new work.

No termite agreement pays for wood repair or termite damage. The bond, drywood fumigation, Formosan liquid and baiting agreements can transfer to a new owner if we get written notice within 30 days of the sale. The spot treatment and Formosan fumigation agreements cannot transfer. Your signed contract sets out the full warranty terms, including exclusions, renewal fees and your responsibilities, such as repairing moisture problems we point out. Read it before you choose a method so you know exactly what each option covers.

Frequently asked questions

How much does termite treatment cost for a North Lauderdale home?

It depends on the species, the size of your home and the method. The published starting price applies only to a one-year drywood bond on a smaller home. Every other termite service is quoted after a free inspection, and you get the quote in writing before any work begins.

Do I have to leave my house for termite treatment?

It depends on the method. Tent fumigation usually means leaving the home for two nights and three days, until the licensed fumigator posts clearance. Formosan liquid treatment doesn't require leaving, but people and pets need to stay clear of the work area while it is in progress and off treated soil until the application has been watered in or has dried. Other methods have their own prep steps, and we explain them when we quote.

How soon can someone inspect my home in North Lauderdale?

We respond the same day you contact us. New customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours, and same-day appointments depend on availability and preparation.

Is the termite inspection free if I'm selling or refinancing?

Our standard inspection, which we use to recommend and quote treatment, is free. An official WDO report for a real estate sale or refinance is a separate paid service. Ask for a quote when you schedule.

Does a termite warranty cover damage to my home?

No. None of our termite agreements cover wood repair or termite damage. Depending on the service, coverage during an active term means retreatment, more liquid treatment, or monitoring and servicing of the bait stations. Formosan fumigation is sold with no warranty.
