Termite Treatment in Tamarac Starts With the Right Species ID

Termite treatment in Tamarac works best when it starts with one question: which termite is in your home? Drywood termite colonies live entirely within wood. Subterranean termites, including Formosan termites, typically nest in or connect to soil and depend on moisture. Each group needs a different method, and a mismatched treatment can cost you time and money.

On Demand Pest Control offers seven distinct termite services. None of them is a one-size plan. Our inspector checks the accessible areas of your Tamarac home, identifies the termite involved, and walks you through the termite treatment options that fit what was found. Some homes need a localized spot treatment in one area. Others call for a whole-house tent fumigation, a liquid soil treatment around the foundation, or a termite baiting system installed in the ground.

Standard inspections are free. If you are buying or selling a home and need an official wood-destroying organism (WDO) report for closing, that report is a separate paid service. We quote it before the work. We respond the same day you reach out, and new customers are typically scheduled within 24 hours. Same-day appointments depend on availability and preparation.

Drywood vs. Subterranean Termite Work: What Changes on the Job

Drywood termite work happens in the wood itself. Depending on the service, that means treating the attic, injecting termiticide into affected wood, or tenting the whole structure. Subterranean work depends on the species. For native subterranean termites, our service is a baiting system with stations set in the ground. For Formosan termites, the options are a baiting system, a liquid soil treatment by trenching and injection, or tent fumigation.

That difference affects how you prepare. Drywood bond work requires access to attic spaces. A Formosan liquid treatment needs the exterior foundation cleared of stored items, potted plants and furniture. You also need to mark any private irrigation or utility lines before work begins. Drill holes from liquid work are patched, but they stay visible.

When Do Termites Swarm in Tamarac? A Species-by-Species Calendar

Swarms are often the first sign a homeowner notices. A swarm is a dispersal flight of winged termites, called alates, leaving a mature colony to start new ones. University of Florida (UF/IFAS) research shows the timing depends on the species. One calendar does not fit every termite found in Florida.

  • Formosan subterranean termites: typically swarm from early April through late June, shortly after sunset, with peak activity in May. Flights can include tens of thousands of termites. When a structure is infested, these swarms can emerge indoors.
  • West Indian drywood termites: mating flights run from April to June, though flights are possible at any time of year. After landing, pairs shed their wings and search for a crack, hole or knot in wood to start a colony.
  • Native subterranean termites (Reticulitermes): Florida’s three species fly at different times. One flies from early December to early February, in the evening. A second flies from early January through April. The third flies from early February to late May. The last two usually fly on warm, sunny, calm afternoons after rain.

So termite season in Tamarac is a set of overlapping windows that run from winter into early summer. Winged insects gathered at windows or lights, or small piles of shed wings on a sill, are worth a call. West Indian drywood colonies take about five years to mature before they produce swarmers. A first swarm can point to a colony that has been in the wood for some time.

How Termite Inspection and Treatment Work, Step by Step

The treatment itself changes with the species, but each termite job follows the same basic path.

  1. Free inspection.

Our inspector checks the accessible areas of your home for signs such as drywood droppings (frass), mud tubes, shed wings and damaged wood.

  2. Species identification.

The inspector determines whether the activity is drywood, Formosan or another subterranean termite. That answer decides which services are compatible with your home.

  3. Written options and quote.

You receive the options that fit the termite found, along with the written terms for each one.

  4. Preparation.

Prep depends on the method. For tent fumigation, you complete a preparation checklist and leave the home, typically for two nights and three days. You return only after the licensed fumigator posts clearance. Liquid Formosan treatment does not require you to leave. People and pets stay clear of the work area, and off treated soil until it is watered in or dry. Baiting installation involves digging in the soil around the perimeter.

  5. Treatment.

Our technician applies the method you selected:

  • Drywood: a drywood bond (attic treatment, spot injections or radius treatment), a localized spot treatment, or whole-house fumigation with sulfuryl fluoride.
  • Formosan: tent fumigation at a higher gas rate, or a liquid treatment applied by trenching along the foundation and drilling and injecting beneath abutting slabs.
  • Subterranean, including Formosan: a baiting system with stations installed around the home.
  1. After treatment.

What happens next follows the terms of your specific agreement. Spot treatment coverage lasts 60 days for the treated areas only, and reinspection may be subject to a service fee. During the initial term and any renewal you choose, baiting stations are inspected at least once a year and serviced as needed. Formosan fumigation carries no retreatment or reinspection obligation, so any later work is quoted separately.

What Termite Treatment Costs in Tamarac

The only published starting price is for a one-year drywood bond on a smaller home.

Termite protection in Tamarac starts around $975 for a one-year drywood termite bond on a smaller home.

That starting figure applies only to a one-year drywood bond on a smaller home. Every other termite service is quoted individually, including three-year bonds, fumigation, spot treatment, Formosan liquid treatment and baiting systems. Your quote reflects:

  • Species and method: the termite found and the service compatible with it.
  • Scope of treatment: the areas and work identified during the inspection.
  • Your home: its size, layout and access conditions, such as attics, slabs, pavers and landscaping.
  • Agreement terms: the coverage term and renewal options that come with the service you choose.

Every job begins with a free inspection and a written quote. If you need a WDO report for a real estate closing, that is a separate paid service, quoted on request.

What On Demand Pest Control Customers Say

★★★★★

“Aiden was excellent! On his own initiative, he checked the wooden table and mirror by the front door where the dead termites had been found. He also checked another piece of wooden furniture that was nearby. He also found a new hole that the termites had made and was very thorough in treating the whole area. We are very pleased with his service and would highly recommend him to our friends.”

— A. Jones
★★★★★

“On Friday morning I saw what appeared to be droppings from drywood termites in my cabinet. I sent an online inquiry about a termite inspection. I received a call within 10 minutes, and by 130 that afternoon Bill came by to do a free inspection. Bill was knowledgeable, thorough, honest, and polite. He didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need and provided a synopsis of possible treatments.”

— L. Shortt
★★★★★

“My neighbors used them and they came highly recommended. I called, they scheduled right away to come out, scheduled the tenting for termites right away, and scheduled the walk through appointment. Matthew Klein Senior inspector came out and is my rep now. He is very thorough, honest, and upfront. They do not add additional services just because, they listen to your needs, no games.”

  • A free standard inspection and a written quote: you see your options, and the terms for each one, before you commit.

Termite Warranty Coverage Differs by Service

Each termite service has its own written terms, so your coverage depends on the method you choose. Review the warranty terms for the service you select. A drywood termite bond runs one or three years. During the term, any additional drywood treatment we find necessary is provided at no additional charge, and you can renew yearly if you choose. Drywood fumigation includes a one-year warranty with optional yearly renewal. Spot treatment covers only the specified treated areas for 60 days. That coverage cannot be renewed or transferred. Formosan liquid treatment includes one year of further liquid treatment when we find it necessary, renewable yearly. That warranty covers liquid treatment only and never includes fumigation. The baiting system includes the first year of monitoring and servicing, with optional annual renewal. Formosan fumigation is sold with no warranty.

None of these services includes wood repair or termite damage coverage. Each warranty covers only the termite types named in its contract, and each contract spells out the exact terms in writing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I have drywood or subterranean termites in my Tamarac home?

Drywood termites often leave small droppings near infested wood. Subterranean termites usually build mud tubes along foundations or walls. Our inspector confirms the species during a free inspection, and that result decides which treatments fit.

Do I have to leave my home during termite treatment?

It depends on the method. Tent fumigation requires you to leave, typically for two nights and three days, and not come back until clearance is posted. Liquid Formosan treatment does not require you to leave. People and pets stay clear of the work area, and off treated soil until it is watered in or dry. Each service has its own preparation steps.

Is a termite inspection free in Tamarac?

Yes. The standard inspection is free and comes with a written quote. An official WDO report for a real estate closing is a separate paid service, and we quote it before any work begins.

Does termite treatment repair damaged wood?

No. None of our termite services include wood repair or damage coverage. Treatment addresses the termite activity, and any repairs are handled separately by a contractor you choose.

Does Formosan termite fumigation come with a warranty?

No. Formosan fumigation is sold with no warranty and no included retreatment. For ongoing Formosan coverage, you can choose a liquid treatment with its own one-year renewable warranty or a subterranean baiting system with first-year monitoring included.
