Frequently asked questions
Do I have to leave my Fort Myers home during termite treatment?
It depends on the method. Tent fumigation requires you to leave, typically for two nights and three days, and you can return only after the fumigator posts clearance. Liquid Formosan treatment does not require you to move out. You do need to keep people and pets away from the work area, and off treated soil until it has been watered in or has dried. Other methods have their own preparation steps, and your inspector explains them in advance.
Is the termite inspection free?
Yes. The standard termite inspection is free, and you receive a written quote. An official WDO real-estate report or clearance letter for a home sale is a separate paid service that we quote on request.
Can drywood termites be treated with bait stations?
No. Bait stations target subterranean termites, including Formosan termites, which forage through soil. Drywood termites live inside the wood itself, so we treat them with spot treatment, a drywood bond or whole-house fumigation.
What happens to my termite coverage if I sell my home?
Coverage for drywood bonds, drywood fumigation and Formosan liquid treatment can transfer to a new owner. We need written notice within thirty days of closing, and the transfer covers only the rest of the current term. The baiting agreement also transfers with written notice within thirty days. Spot treatment coverage does not transfer, and Formosan fumigation has no warranty to transfer.
What is the best long-term option for Formosan termites?
Formosan fumigation treats termites already in the structure, but it includes no warranty or ongoing protection. For longer-term Formosan protection, homeowners can choose liquid soil treatment or a baiting system. Your inspector compares both options for your property.
